Arriving on August 10, Kim’s Convenience is a heartfelt Canadian sitcom about a first-generation Korean-Canadian family. Appa, Umma, and their grown kids, Janet and Jung, run a Toronto convenience store over 5 seasons of laughs, cultural differences, generational tension, and moments of healing. The series ran from 2016 to 2021 and stars Paul Sun-Hyung Lee as Mr. Kim “Appa”, Jean Yoon as Mrs. Kim “Umma”, Simu Liu as Jung Kim, and Andrea Bang as Janet Kim.
That same date also brings a reality marathon. It includes the premiere of The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: Roaring 20s, Season 5, plus The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Season 17 – Reunion Part 1.
Another must-watch release on Peacock this week is Oppenheimer. Directed by Christopher Nolan, the 2023 film dropping on August 16 traces the life of theoretical physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer. It highlights his role leading the Manhattan Project to develop the atomic bomb and the political scrutiny he endured during the Red Scare.
Cillian Murphy headlines as J. Robert Oppenheimer, with Emily Blunt playing his wife, Katherine “Kitty” Oppenheimer, and Robert Downey Jr. taking on the role of Lewis Strauss. The cast also includes Matt Damon as General Leslie Groves Jr., Florence Pugh as Jean Tatlock, and Benny Safdie as Edward Teller. Also featured are Josh Hartnett as Ernest Lawrence, Kenneth Branagh as Niels Bohr, and Rami Malek as David Hill.
