Gary Oldman has stated that the hunt for the new James Bond is finally over. The actor appeared to confirm that filmmakers have already selected Daniel Craig’s successor as the next 007 in Amazon MGM Studios’ upcoming James Bond movie.
In a recent interview with Canada’s The Morning Show, Oldman shared that filmmakers are eyeing his Slow Horses co-star Jack Lowden to step into the role of James Bond. “It’s been rumored that [Lowden] is on the shortlist,” he stated.
Oldman added, “We’re going to find out pretty soon, aren’t we? Because they have picked him. They have made their choice, but they have not announced it yet. So my fingers are crossed for Jack.”
However, it remains uncertain whether the actor has received an official confirmation from the filmmakers at Amazon MGM Studios, or if Oldman is simply cheering for Lowden based on previous casting rumors. Additionally, there has been no statement from the filmmakers about the final James Bond cast.
Meanwhile, Oldman is set to reunite with Lowden in the upcoming season of Apple TV+’s spy thriller hit, Slow Horses. In the show, Lowden plays MI5 agent River Cartwright, who works under veteran intelligence operative Jackson Lamb, played by Oldman. Slow Horses Season 6 premieres on September 16.
