Mika Kleinschmidt is taking a break from the small screen to take to the stage.
Earlier this summer, the HGTV star revealed that she had been cast in a production of the musical Come From Away. “Thrilled to be going back to live theater and performing on stage with these wonderful people. Looking forward to starting our journey together and telling this beautiful story,” she wrote via Facebook on June 26 alongside a photo of the Eight O’Clock Theatre’s official cast list. “Tickets available starting 6/29.”
Mika’s husband and 100 Day Dream Home costar, Brian Kleinschmidt, took to his Instagram Story on Friday, September 4, to repost footage from the production. “You’ve seen Mika on the screen; now come see her on the stage!” he wrote alongside the clip and shared a link to purchase tickets.
The video, shared by Eight O’Clock Theatre’s Instagram page, features clips from the show of Mika and the rest of the Come From Away cast. “In the middle of who knows where, you’ll meet the people who turned an unimaginable moment into an unforgettable story of kindness, generosity, and hope,” the post’s caption reads. “Here’s your first look at Come From Away. Brian hopped in the post’s comments, writing, “I saw it tonight and can’t wait to see it again!” Mika, for her part, shared red heart and fire emojis.
Come From Away premiered on Broadway in 2017. The musical tells the story of plane passengers whose flights were grounded following the 9/11 terrorist attacks, and the residents of Newfoundland who welcomed them into their community.
Mika has shared several behind-the-scenes glimpses from rehearsal via Instagram. “Working on a different type of show right now that I cannot wait to share!!! It’s exactly what my soul needs,” she wrote alongside snaps from inside the rehearsal room on July 17. “See you on the Rock! @eightoclocktheatre Ticket info in bio!”
In an August 23 upload, Mika shared pics and clips from the cast’s first days rehearsing at the theater. “Move-in day!!!! Get your tickets now this is a show you won’t wanna miss!!” she captioned the post.
One fan commented, “Ok, are you on Broadway Mika!!!??” Mika replied, “I am doing a Broadway musical here in Largo, Florida.” Another user wrote, “This is my favorite play of all time. I really wish I didn’t have a scheduling conflict that day. I’m sure you’ll be amazing. Enjoy every minute.”
