Taylor Swift‘s upcoming cinematic music video will star Dakota Johnson and Colin Farrell. Ahead of the music video’s premiere, the singer-songwriter uploaded a new cinematic teaser. Along with this, Swift also shared the video’s release date.
On September 24, 2026, the musician uploaded the teaser trailer for her upcoming song, Patient Zero. The video shows the A-list stars alongside Swift in a dramatic narrative, shot by the cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki. It also features an audio clip from the upcoming music video.
In the teaser trailer, Johnson and Swift appear together in several scenes, including in front of a bathroom sink, near a statue, in a pool, and at a funeral. The scene shifts to a crying Swift, also offering a clear glimpse of her wedding ring.
As the teaser goes on, Farrell enters the scene, and Johnson is seen stumbling out of a party. The three are then shown in a room, wherein Johnson sits on the left, Farrell stands on the right, and Swift walks toward them in the middle. As the teaser ends, the title track and release date appear.
When will Taylor Swift’s Patient Zero music video debut?
The Patient Zero music video was directed by Taylor Swift. It will premiere at the MTV VMAs on Sunday, September 27, 2026. At the event, the American singer will also receive the Inaugural Artist-Director Award.
Furthermore, Swift revealed the release of her expanded album, The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore. This album will feature songs from the original album with four new tracks. These tracks include Patient Zero, Cleveland!, Pink Clouding, and Babylon.
In the announcement of the expanded album, Swift wrote, “About a year ago, you guys did a truly unfathomable thing. Something that completely blew my mind… You gave ‘The Life of a Showgirl’ the biggest first week for an album in history.”
Swift added that she took a trip to Sweden with her collaborators Max Martin and Shellback to celebrate. During this trip, the trio wrote the songs. “I hope you love them, because they were born out of pure gratitude for your exuberance for and celebration of the album we made,” Swift added.
The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore will be released on Friday, September 25, 2026.
