Presley Gerber‘s tragic death has left a lot of questions.
The model and mental health advocate died from an apparent overdose on Sunday, September 20 — within just one day of checking into a sober home by Resolutions Living in Santa Monica, California.
In the days that followed, reports came out alleging Presley had been admitted while actively under the influence. Since this was a sober living facility and not a detox rehab, that apparently should have been a red flag. It’s reportedly a standard rule among sober living centers to NOT admit anyone currently intoxicated.
Not only was the admissions officer who approved his check-in reportedly fired, it turns out Resolutions Living was subsequently investigated by the California Department of Health Care Services.
Per a complaint filed by a reform advocate, “a 27-year-old man entered this environment seeking help and was dead the following morning. Regardless of the ultimate cause of death, the circumstances warrant a thorough regulatory investigation into the facility”

On Thursday, Page Six got the results of the review. DHCS looked into two inquiries:
“Was an individual reportedly under the influence admitted to a sober living residence that was not authorized to provide the level of care he required, and was Resolutions Living actually providing regulated addiction treatment, detoxification, clinical monitoring, or recovery services beyond the lawful scope of sober housing?”
DCHS found the complaints “not substantiated,” per the outlet. Their statement reads in part:
“That review is now complete, and DHCS did not identify any activities that would constitute unlicensed substance use disorder treatment or otherwise require licensure. As such, no violations were found, and the matter is now closed.”
As we reported, Presley’s mother Cindy Crawford and sister Kaia Gerber broke their silence on his death this week.

Cindy wrote on Instagram:
“We are beyond heartbroken to lose our beloved son and brother. We feel so blessed to have had Presley in our lives for 27 years. He is a sweet, beautiful soul who loved and is loved, now and forever. We are so proud of how he showed up in the world, with kindness and vulnerability. We are grateful for the outpouring of love and support from so many who know and love our family and even strangers who feel our pain. Til we meet again our sweet boy.”
And Kaia’s tribute was even more heartbreaking, baring the entirety of her soul:
“i’ve read all of the books and i have none of the answers. my articulation is no match against this, the magnitude of losing you.
i am, quite literally, down on my f[**]king knees.
you know how much i loved being your sister. it has always been, and will forever be, my favorite thing about myself. i came into this world with a white-knuckle grip around you. i had more love for you than i knew what to do with. and now that it has nowhere obvious to go, i’m certain it’s going to swallow me whole.
you believed – always believed – in people. you met cruelty not with anger, but with confusion. and curiosity.
you believed people were inherently good because, presley, you are inherently good.
and somehow, through all of it, i got to be your sister, your lucky eternal witness, watching you do the most hard-core, heavy metal thing anyone can do: you stayed soft.”

Presley left such a positive impact on all who loved him. May he rest in peace.
