According to TMZ, a court has granted Olivier Martinez‘s request for a temporary restraining order against his ex-wife, A-list actress and Oscar winner Halle Berry, after he accused her of physically abusing their 12-year-old son Maceo.
As we reported earlier, Olivier claims Halle physically attacked their son last Saturday, allegedly jumping on him, putting her hands around his neck, and choking him. Now, he wants sole custody of Maceo.
Now, more details have come out from the court docs.
Per Page Six, it’s claimed in the docs that Halle allegedly told Maceo he looked “so stupid” and called him “such an idiot” while he was playing a VR game. Olivier claims “the situation escalated” when she “jumped on our son and started physically fighting with him.”
He alleges:
“She grabbed Maceo by the neck and started choking him while shouting, ‘Who is dominant now?! Who is dominant?!’”
He claims this is not the first instance of alleged abuse.
“Throughout the last year and a half, Ms Berry had wrestled Maceo to the ground and forced him to ‘tap out’”
TMZ has also seen the court docs, and their reporting also includes multiple accusations from Olivier of prior abuse, including a time 5 years ago when she allegedly struck his face. He also claims she’s caused Maceo distress by putting him in the middle of his parents’ contentious custody battle, allegedly asking Maceo how he feels “as a Black man” to see his father, a “white bitch”, rob a Black woman.
Olivier claims Halle’s alleged alcohol consumption “contributed to her abusive conduct.” He seeks sole custody, but says he still wants Halle to have a relationship with her son — after some time and space. TMZ reports the two have been ordered to “participate in confidential mediation” regarding further custody developments.
On Thursday afternoon, per TMZ, the court granted Olivier’s request for the temporary restraining order. Halle must stay 100 yards away from him. She will be allowed court-ordered visitation with Maceo every other weekend. This will remain in effect until the next hearing on October 16.
As we’ve said, it should be stressed that these are Olivier’s allegations. At this point, no response from Halle has been reported.
Back in 2024, Halle was the one who filed for sole custody of Maceo, accusing Olivier of refusing to co-parent with her in a way that put their son’s needs first. That came after the former couple finally settled their divorce in 2023, nearly eight years after their split, agreeing at the time to joint legal custody.
We sincerely hope Maceo is okay, that the truth of whatever happened is determined quickly, and that all parties can move forward with a plan that works best for everyone’s healing. This story is developing.
