With Thrash making waves on Netflix earlier this month and Renny Harlin’s Deep Water swimming into theaters this weekend, Devil’s Mouth is the next shark movie to get excited about.
The survival thriller has been rated PG-13 by the MPA for “violent content, bloody images, some language, and suggestive material.”
Kathryn Newton (Ready or Not 2: Here I Come) and Lana Condor (Pretty Lethal) star as college friends who, on a trip en route to Thailand, get trapped in an underwater cave system with a bull shark. Old tensions and power struggles resurface as they fight to survive.
Jeff Wadlow (Truth or Dare, Kick-Ass 2) directs from a script he revised from Aja Gabel (“Sunny”) and Myung Joh Wesner (“Star Wars: Skeleton Crew”).
Amazon MGM Studios and Lionsgate are co-producing the project. Wadlow produces alongside Basil Iwanyk & Erica Lee of Thunder Road Films (John Wick, Sicario).
With a rating in the books, Devil’s Mouth release details and a trailer shouldn’t be far behind.
Newton can next be seen reprising her role as Cassie Lang in Avengers: Doomsday, in theaters December 18. Her upcoming genre projects include the holiday horror film White Elephant with Nick Jonas and coming-of-age revenge thriller Hot Year alongside Storm Reid.
