Macaulay Culkin in Talks for New ‘Home Alone’ Movie: Report

Macaulay Culkin is reportedly in talks to star in a new Home Alone movie, after he was spotted at Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, California.

During the July 28 episode of The Town podcast, entertainment journalist Matthew Belloni reported, “I got a tip the other day that there was a very interesting sighting on the Disney lot: Macaulay Culkin was there. He’s talked about having an idea for a new Home Alone, and Disney is, like, salivating.”

Belloni continued, “They’re offering him another movie. Like, he could do his own passion project if he could also do another Home Alone. And they have a good idea. I’ve talked to people who have heard it, and it’s a really good idea for a Home Alone reboot with Macaulay Culkin.”

Culkin starred as Kevin McCallister in 1990’s Home Alone and 1992’s Home Alone: Lost in New York. So far, there are four other movies in the franchise starring different actors and completely different characters. At least 35 years will have passed if Culkin were to reprise his role as Kevin.

In 2018, Culkin was featured in a Google ad that parodied his Home Alone role — only this time, as an adult with a house all to himself.

Culkin also offered a glimpse of what an adult Kevin might be doing in a 2025 ad for Home Instead (a network that provides in-care services for older adults).

In addition to Culkin, the original Home Alone starred Joe Pesci, Daniel Stern, John Heard, Roberts Blossom, Catherine O’Hara, John Candy, his brother Kieran Culkin, Angela Goethals, Devin Ratray, and Gerry Bamman, among others.

Today, Culkin is 45, engaged to fellow former child actor Brenda Song, 38, and has two sons, Dakota (born in 2021)  and Carson (born in 2022).
