After four years, those itching to get their hands on Australian developer Catchweight Studio and Team17 Digital’s Conscript can finally do just that. The Survival Horror title is out today on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series, Xbox One and PC via Steam, and is celebrating with the customary launch trailer.
“It’s a dream come true to see Conscript finally released,” says Jordan Mochi, founder and solo developer at Catchweight Studio. “I poured my heart into creating a game that blends the harsh realities of World War I with the tension and thrill of survival horror. I can’t wait to hear how players respond to the game and see it on the shelves.”
Conscript takes players deep into the trenches of World War I, offering an experience inspired by the classics of the Survival Horror genre. Set in the Battle of Verdun in 1916, players assume the role of a lone French soldier named André, who is looking for his brother Pierre – missing-in-action during The Battle of Verdun. As such, you’ll be scavenging for supplies, surviving intense combat with enemy soldiers, and solving complex puzzles.
Along with experiencing the horror of the Battle of Verdun with a classic and methodical survival horror gameplay style, Conscript is also highly re-playable with various difficulty settings, multiple endings, unlockable costumes and bonus weapons. Players will need to navigate intricate level design posed by the battlefield that promotes item management and route planning.
