Vinegar Syndrome Delivers a Complete and Stunning 4K UHD Release of Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2
Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, the iconic horror film by director Tobe Hooper, is getting a new and improved release on 4K Ultra HD from Vinegar Syndrome. The new collection features an impressive array of special features, including new interviews with legendary figures in horror such as Tom Savini, Caroline Williams, and more. In addition to these new features, the collection also includes all of the previously released special features, making it a comprehensive and must-have release for fans of the film.
The original Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie was known for its gritty, dirty, and sweat-drenched atmosphere, set in the sweltering Texas summer heat. However, Hooper took a different approach with Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, imbuing it with a comic book-like feel and emphasizing the twisted underground lair where The Saw and The Family hide. While this direction may not have been everyone’s cup of tea, it showcased Hooper’s unique brilliance and is now considered a hallmark of the franchise.
This new release of Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 by Vinegar Syndrome includes a plethora of special features, such as 4K UHD presented in High-Dynamic-Range, newly scanned and restored in 4K from its 35mm original camera negative, and presented with its original 2.0 stereo theatrical mix. There are also several audio commentaries with various cast and crew members, including director Tobe Hooper, actors Bill Moseley and Caroline Williams, and special effects makeup creator Tom Savini.
Fans of the film will also enjoy newly-produced interviews with the film’s cast and crew, including “The Saw and Savini” with Tom Savini, “Stretch Lives!” with Caroline Williams, and “Serving Tom” with special makeup effects artist Gabe Bartalos, among others. Additionally, there are extended interviews with director Tobe Hooper and co-producer Cynthia Hargrave, taken from director Mark Hartley’s documentary “Electric Boogaloo: The Wild, Untold Story of Cannon Films”.
Other special features include an 85-minute documentary on the making of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, behind-the-scenes footage shot during the film’s production, alternate openings, deleted scenes, original theatrical trailers for both the US and Japan, TV spots, and an extensive promotional still and image gallery. The release also features reversible cover artwork and English SDH subtitles.
