Vera Farmiga, the Oscar and Emmy-nominated actor most known in horror for her recurring performance as Lorraine Warren in The Conjuring franchise, also happens to be an avid metal fan. More than just a fan, the actor/musician is the lead vocalist for the new rock band The Yagas, and they’ve debuted their first single, “The Crying Room.”
Along with Farmiga, The Yagas is comprised of her husband, Deadsy member Renn Hawkey, drummer Jason Bowman, guitarist Mark Visconti, and bassist Mike Davis.

“‘The Crying Room’ is about release and relief. It’s about crying your heart clean. It’s a song that was filmed during and in the aftermath of an eclipse, and is about the eclipse of our soul. Eclipses have potent effects on our psychology. They are energetic portals that trigger epiphanies and outpouring of emotion. They help us shift. Humans are capable of getting stuck in our shadows from time to time. It’s in this balancing of the shadow and light, one literally eclipsing the other, that we have an opportunity to look deep into our hearts and what is going on internally and bring that into the light, no matter how dark it is,” Farmiga said in a statement.
As for the band’s name, it’s an appropriate metal name derived from the Slavic folklore witch Baba Yaga.
The Yagas’ debut album, mixed by Grammy nominee Bryan Virtue (Deftones, 30 Seconds to Mars) and mastered by Grammy winner Emily Lazar (Beck, Coldplay), is expected to arrive in 2025. The album is currently titled Midnight Minue.
Also arriving next year? Farmiga’s return as Lorraine Warren in The Conjuring: Last Rites, which is currently in post-production and set to release in theaters September 5, 2025. Farmiga will star alongside Patrick Wilson in what’s said to be the final installment in the main series.
