We all die in the dark.
Reminiscent of early found footage like The Blair Witch Project with an injection of Event Horizon and Gaspar Noé’s hellish Into the Void, The Outwaters, which opened in theaters this past weekend, has been described by many as what it must be like to experience death.
Critics loved it, audiences were divided, and now SCREAMBOX subscribers will be able to judge for themselves now that The Outwaters has arrived on the Bloody Disgusting-powered streaming platform as well as all VOD platforms!
Love it or hate it, we here at Bloody Disgusting are extremely proud of Robbie Banfitch‘s film, which we like to call anti-cinema. Ambiguous, dangerous, and brutally unapologetic, The Outwaters is different in a sea of the same. We hope that you’ll turn off the lights, jack up the volume, and allow yourself to sink into the experience that’s nothing short of nerve-shredding.

The Outwaters follows a foursome who set out to make a music video in the middle of the desert, and while their trip starts out uneventful, their peace is eventually disrupted by unexplained sounds, vibrations, and unnatural animal behavior.
What happens next is a mind-bending trip through terror that is nothing short of disorienting and absolutely frightening.
The visceral, chaotic, and disorienting horror film is hands down one of the scariest films of the year. Nightmarish Conjurings noted it was “a rare gift in horror” and “something [viewers] haven’t seen before,” while our very own Meagan Navarro called it “a singular, experimental descent into depravity and gory chaos.” You have to read her review.
In fact, DailyDead calls it “a terrifying, suffocating viewing experience,” while iHORROR says it’s “on track to become the next cult horror movie,” adding that it’s “the most disturbing movie of the year.”
