After spending just over a year in Early Access, developer Offworld Industries has announce that Starship Troopers: Extermination will be leaving the service with its 1.0 launch on October 11. In addition, Starship Troopers alumni Casper Van Dien announced that his iconic character Johnny Rico will return in in the game, commanding players in a new, single-player game mode included in the 1.0 launch.
The new game mode is an entirely single-player focus, offering 25 distinct missions and a variety of PvE combat scenarios across multiple environments, with a second chapter arriving post-launch. Tapped for an elite spec ops group within the Mobile Infantry, players find themselves following the orders of living legend General John “Johnny” Rico, proving their mettle against hordes of enemy Arachnids with the aid of three original NPC allies to prove themselves worthy of recruitment.
In addition to the announcement of Extmination‘s full launch, Offworld also shared a new gameplay trailer, showcasing the action that console players can expect from the game when it arrives this October. Additionally, in the coming weeks, Offworld will share more information regarding Starship Troopers: Extermination—including details about the latest update, which arrives at the end of June.
Starship Troopers: Extermination is currently in Early Access on Steam, with the full launch expanding to PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series.
