Expanding Horizons through Unrestricted Filmmaking is the Theme of the Shock Stock Film Festival 2023.
In 2023, the well-known and well-attended underground event known as the Shock Stock Film Festival is scheduled to return with an amazing programme of films and events. The festival will run from May 3rd to May 7th in London, Ontario, and will feature both global premieres and Canadian premieres of films that promote unrestricted filmmaking. The festival will partner with Film London and expand to five days.
The film lineup for this year comprises eleven feature films, including the world premiere of HELL NURSE, written and directed by Bobby Blood, as well as the Canadian premiere of THE FOREST HILLS, written and directed by Scott Goldberg, which marks the return of iconic actress Shelley Duvall to the film industry after an absence of 20 years. The weekend will also feature short film presentations, workshops, and question and answer sessions with the filmmakers.
Films from countries all around the world, such as Italy, Japan, Norway, France, Spain, Mexico, the United Kingdom, Portugal, and Slovenia, were chosen to compete for the 2023 Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. All of the films will be vying for the highly coveted Crystal Shocker awards during the festival. On April 7, 2023, the final version of the schedule will be released. This version will include all of the selected shorts, panels, and workshops. You can now purchase tickets and passes for the event.
In addition to the screenings of films, the festival will also feature a special screening to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the notorious cult film SLEEPAWAY CAMP. Felissa Rose, who starred in the film, will be present for the screening.
Shock Stock is Canada’s first independently run pop culture convention, and it has been predominantly devoted to the horror subgenre ever since it was established in 2011. Since 2016, the event has also featured a showcase of short, feature, and experimental films that reflect “uninhibited filmmaking.” The festival has evolved into an international film festival.
Film workshops will also be a part of the 2023 edition, with the goal of giving young filmmakers with instruction and mentoring, as well as fostering an environment in which seasoned industry experts may network and engage with one another without restrictions.
Film London is the organization that is in charge of putting on the Shock Stock Film Festival, while Soda Pop Bros. and Railway City Brewery are the businesses that are providing further event support. During the course of the event, there will also be a large number of exhibitors there to display a wide range of items and services connected to horror and pop culture.
