Fans of the horror genre, prepare yourselves for the most recent version of the iconic short story “Children of the Corn” written by Stephen King. On March 3, 2023, RLJE Films and Shudder, the horror streaming service of the AMC Network, are thrilled to showcase Kurt Wimmer’s newest invention in cinemas. The On Demand and digital release is scheduled for March 21, 2023.
Wimmer, who has directed films such as “Ultraviolet” and written for popular Hollywood titles such as “Law Abiding Citizen,” “Total Recall,” and “Point Break,” accepts the challenge of adapting King’s spine-chilling story. His previous credits include “Point Break,” “Total Recall,” and “Ultraviolet.” In the film Children of the Corn, the main character is a little girl of 12 years old who lives in a rural area of Nebraska and becomes possessed by a malicious ghost while exploring a dying cornfield. She then recruits the assistance of other young people living in the town to assist her in going on a killing spree against the elders and anybody else who stands in her way. The only chance of survival rests in the hands of a clever high school student who refuses to take part in the bloodshed. He is the only one who can save the others.
Horror lovers have been waiting eagerly for the release of the film ever since it was one of the earliest movies to be made during the early days of the pandemic in the year 2020. It is said that Wimmer’s retelling of King’s story has very little in common with the one that King wrote, with a plot that is described as “A psychotic young girl of twelve years old in a rural community in Nebraska enlists the help of all the other children in the community before embarking on a murderous rampage, taking the lives of corrupt adults and anyone else who stands in her way. The sole chance of survival for the town lies with a bright high school student who refuses to cooperate with the plan.”
Talented actresses such as Elena Kampouris from “Before I Fall,” Kate Moyer from “When Hope Calls,” Callan Mulvey from “Avengers: Endgame,” and Bruce Spence from “The Road Warrior” are featured in the cast of Children of the Corn. This movie is going to be a big hit with audiences since it features a cast with so much skill and a director who is well-known for his expertise in the horror genre.
Because CHILDREN OF THE CORN is going to be one of the most talked-about horror movies of 2023, you should prepare ready for some nail-biting tension that will get your heart racing.
