Prepare yourselves, fans of the horror genre, for The Exorcist! The highly anticipated production of the reboot, directed by David Gordon Green, is now back on track, and we have some exciting news to share with you in this regard. We are very excited to welcome the talented Olivia Marcum to the cast, and we can’t wait to see what she has in store for us!
Marcum is a rising star who was just recently seen performing on stage in the leading role of the well-known musical Matilda. Even though her part in the upcoming reboot of The Exorcist is still unknown.
The Exorcist reboot is a new sequel that is part of a planned trilogy. David Gordon Green is the director of this new installment. A star-studded cast will be featured in the first installment of the trilogy, which is scheduled to be released in theaters on October 13, 2023. The cast includes Leslie Odom Jr., Lidya Jewett (Netflix’s Nightbooks), Ellen Burstyn, who will reprise her role as Chris MacNeil from the 1973 original film, and Ann Dowd (Hereditary).
The first plot details released last year gave us a glimpse of what to expect: “Odom Jr. will play the father of a possessed child, who desperately seeks the help of Burstyn’s character.” This promising story is written by Peter Sattler (Broken Diamonds) and Green, with the help of Scott Teems (Halloween Kills, The Quarry) and Danny McBride (Halloween Kills, Halloween).
This chilling remake is being produced by Blumhouse, which is owned by Jason Blum; David Robinson and James Robinson of Morgan Creek; Green, McBride, and Couper Samuelson are serving as executive producers; and Blumhouse’s Ryan Turek is in charge of supervising the project. Because of the caliber of the cast and crew involved, we know that this latest installment in The Exorcist franchise will live up to our lofty expectations.
Since the first film in the Exorcist series was released in 1973, it has become an indispensable component of the horror subgenre. The movie earned a total of $441 million worldwide, making it the highest-grossing horror film ever made for the next 44 years. It was also nominated for ten Academy Awards, including one for Burstyn, who was considered for the role of Best Actress. As a result, The Exorcist became the first horror movie in history to be considered for the Academy Award for Best Picture. Before its most recent adaptation, the Fox television series, which was surprisingly excellent and cleverly connected to the original classic, the franchise continued with 1977’s The Exorcist II: The Heretic and 1990’s The Exorcist III, both of which were adaptations of the original film.
And now, finally, after those 18 long years, a brand new chapter of The Exorcist has been released! With the addition of Marcum to the cast, in addition to Burstyn, Odom Jr., Dowd, and Jewett, we have every reason to anticipate nothing less than the very best from this latest entry in the venerable horror franchise. We are eager to see what Blumhouse, Universal, Peacock, and Morgan Creek have in store for us as a result of their investment in the franchise rights, which they acquired for an astounding $400 million.
Put these dates in your diaries, all you fans of the macabre! On October 13, 2023, audiences will be treated to a brand-new spine-tingling adventure within the world of The Exorcist, which will make its debut on the big screen. With David Gordon Green at the helm, along with a talented cast that includes Olivia Marcum, we have every reason to anticipate that this chilling new chapter will be nothing short of excellent.
