In 2021, the Disney+ series “What If…?” teased the horror possibilites from Marvel Studios with the introduction of “Marvel Zombies” in a one-off episode that turned our favorite superheroes into the undead. Today, Marvel has unveiled their 2025 Disney+ television release schedule, which dates the 4-episode sequel series for Halloween 2025.
“Marvel Zombies” is currently set to debut on Disney+ in October 2025.
The series is based on the comic run of the same name that sees an alternate universe where various heroes get infected and turn while the uninfected ones try to save themselves and the world. The Marvel Zombies series was officially announced by Marvel Studios in November 2021, where the show was described as a continuation of the universe introduced in the “What If…?“ episode.
The episode, helmed by Bryan Andrews and written by Matthew Chauncey, ended on a bit of a cliffhanger that saw the small group of survivors heading to Wakanda to regroup, unaware that a zombified Thanos with an Infinity Gauntlet had already decimated the area.
Marvel Studios’ Head of Streaming, Television, and Animation, Brad Winderbaum, teased that the series would take a darker tone. He previously told IGN, “In terms of more mature animation, yeah, we’re making a Marvel Zombies show right now that is pretty intense that’s for sure a TV-MA show.”
Expect to hear a lot more about this series in the coming months, especially leading into next year’s Halloween season. In the meantime, Marvel has unveiled the new series logo for “Marvel Zombies.”
