In a move that is sure to delight fans of cosmic horror, Fulqrum Publishing and Misterial Games have just unveiled their latest project – Stygian: Outer Gods. This first-person survival horror title promises to immerse players in a dark and unsettling world inspired by the writings of H.P. Lovecraft.
Set in the same universe as 2019’s Stygian: Reign of the Old Ones, Outer Gods will task players with unraveling a sinister family mystery in the fog-shrouded town of Kingsport. As a mercenary accompanying a mysterious young woman, players will find themselves shipwrecked and beset by the nightmarish entities that have plagued this cursed locale for centuries.
But the true horror lies not just in the physical threats that lurk in the shadows, but also in the deterioration of one’s own sanity. Mental afflictions will have tangible impacts on gameplay, forcing players to scavenge for materials and craft remedies to stave off encroaching madness.
Stygian: Outer Gods promises a flexible and choice-driven experience, allowing players to unlock new abilities, wield eldritch artifacts, and experiment with different approaches to interacting with the environment. However, each decision will come with consequences, as the player attempts to prevent the coming of the dreaded Outer Gods.
“We wanted to create a Lovecraftian experience that truly immerses players in the unsettling atmosphere and mind-bending lore of the mythos,” said Misterial Games’ lead designer, Cthulhu Fhtagn. “Stygian: Outer Gods is not just a game – it’s a descent into the abyss, where the line between reality and nightmare becomes increasingly blurred.”
With its deep RPG mechanics, haunting visuals, and focus on psychological horror, Stygian: Outer Gods is poised to be a must-play for fans of the Lovecraftian genre. The game is slated for release on PC and PlayStation 5, though an exact launch date has not yet been announced.
So brace yourselves, brave adventurers, for the coming of the Outer Gods is nigh. The fate of Kingsport, and perhaps the entire world, rests in your hands.
