On Friday, October 14, Halloween Ends, the concluding chapter in the classic horror series, will be released in cinemas and on Peacock. And the star, Jamie Lee Curtis, has been saying tearful farewells to her many followers.
Variety reports that almost 5,000 Halloween fans heard it straight from the ultimate Final Girl herself at this weekend’s New York Comic Con. She thanked him, saying, “No matter what I do, Laurie Strode is because of you.” Curtis commented, “endings are a bitch-but so is Laurie Strode” when discussing the impending Halloween Ends.
Scream Queen Curtis added, “Jamie and Laurie have become woven together. There is no separation. I don’t have anything in my life without Laurie Strode. Nothing. I wouldn’t have a career. I wouldn’t have a family.”
Curtis revealed to the Comic-Con crowd that the concept of Halloween H20 was actually her invention. She claims that two years prior to the 20th anniversary of the first picture, she phoned John Carpenter and Debra Hill and planted the idea for a sequel.
The actor also said that she “couldn’t live” with the knowledge that Laurie was responsible for the murder of an innocent person, so she begged that her character be killed off in the first 10 minutes of the next film, Halloween: Resurrection.
In any case, that subplot was dropped, and the final showdown between Laurie Strode (and Jamie Lee Curtis) and The Shape is shaping up to be one of the year’s most anticipated horror events.
