Kevin Williamson, who co-created the Scream series with Wes Craven nearly 30 years ago, is gushing about the sixth chapter.
Ghostface, the knife-wielding icon of the meta property that revived the waning slasher subgenre, is finally making his way to the biggest death zone of them all: New York City. With the hope of starting over, four survivors of the Woodsboro massacre travel to the island of Manhattan, only to discover that the violence has followed them there.
Even though Scream 6 isn’t scheduled to hit theaters until March 10, 2023, franchise creator Kevin Williamson, who also serves as an executive producer on the film, has already seen it. Williamson praised Scream 6 in an interview with Syfy, saying that it seems like a “reinvention” of the series.
“absolutely floored with how well (Scream 6) turned out. It doesn’t feel like Part 6, it feels like you’re watching this big, huge, fresh reinvention. I love, love, love, love it. I’ve watched the movie with a big smile on my face. I think it’s everything and more. And going to New York was awesome. The movie feels new, it feels fresh, it feels like a new movie.“

The events of Scream 6, which take place in New York City, were filmed in Montreal. This one will show us what happens after the four survivors of the Ghostface killings finally leave Woodsboro and begin a new chapter. It will be directed by Scream 2022’s Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, and the screenplay will be written by Scream 2022’s James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick. Scream 2022’s Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin will serve as directors for this one.
Is Scream 6 something you’re looking forward to? Considering what Williamson said, what are your thoughts?
