The classic slasher film from the 1990s, “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” is getting a sequel, and fans of the film have something to look forward to! According to Deadline, Sony Pictures is producing a new sequel to the film, and it will be bringing back two of the original stars: Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr.!
There have been conversations surrounding Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. possibly reprising the roles they played in the first movie. Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, who is best known for her work on the television series “Do Revenge,” will helm the film as the director. Insiders say that the film’s producer, Neal H. Moritz, is in talks to return, and that Leah McKendrick is on board to pen the script; however, the film is still in the initial stages of development. Robinson and McKendrick came up with the concept for the new movie, and their presentation to the executives of the production company won them over with their idea for the second installment.
It is anticipated that this new installment will adhere to the pattern of “legacy sequels,” which means that it will bring back characters fans are already familiar with while also introducing new people to the narrative. Jim Gillespie was the director of the first film, which was released in 1997, and Kevin Williamson, who is known for writing the “Scream” series of films, was the writer of the script. The novel by Lois Duncan served as the basis for the film, which went on to spawn two sequels, one in 1998 and another in 2006. Only the original movie’s first sequel saw Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. reprise their roles from the original film.
After a terrible accident brings four young friends back together in their sleepy coastal community, they soon find themselves the targets of a psychopath armed with a hook. The original film tells the story of “The Hook,” which is based on the novel by Stephen King. Fans of the first film can anticipate the new sequel to be an exciting ride because it will star Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr., and it will also feature a talented director and writer.
