It seems like Halloween Ends might not be the hugely successful horror film that many were anticipating. Even while analysts expected a $55 million opening weekend for the final instalment of the renowned franchise, such estimates now appear to be overly high.
According to Variety, the newly released picture dominated the box office in its first weekend, earning $43.4 million.
Last in the long-running franchise that began with John Carpenter’s 1978 original and was resurrected with 2018’s Halloween, the picture is now showing in 3,901 cinemas. The theatrical and television debuts of Halloween Ends and its predecessor, Halloween Kills, occurred on the same day.
