Happy Friday the 13th, well the 14th as I type this article. Friday the 13th is either a superstitious holiday to some or a celebration to others. Among the Horror community, it’s a celebration. What are we celebrating? It’s Jason Voorhees’ birthday. Many people are leery of Friday the 13th, they associate it with negativity… but, it can be a vibrant, powerful day. (We also had a Full Strawberry Moon on June 11, 2025.)
It was an eventful day with celebrations held at Superior Restaurant in Emmaus. A huge shout out to Mike who is an awesome soul. There was a special guest at Superior today. It was Dinner with a Slasher hosted by Horror 365, and Jason Voorhees (Josh Curzi @HorrorDaddy85 on IG) casually strolled around Superior as dining guests took photos with Jason Voorhees. Superior is a comfortable place. It feels like a warm hug when you visit.
The shenanigans continued at The Emmaus Theatre for “Jason’s Killer Birthday Bash,” with a Double Feature. We watched Friday the 13th, and Friday the 13th: Part II. Horror 365 had cake and pizza for guests. We collectively sang Happy Birthday to Jason Voorhees who once again took photos with Friday the 13th fans. The Emmaus Theatre decorated the theatre. Horror 365 also had help from Joe Scrizzi.
Horror fans are dedicated souls. Friday the 13th was released in 1980, and has a dedicated following. It was directed by Sean S. Cunningham, and stars the late great Betsy Palmer as Mrs. Voorhees, Adrienne King, one of beloved final girls, and Ari Lehman.
There was an intermission, and then we all watched Friday The 13th – Part II. Friday The 13th – Part II was directed by Steve Miner, and stars another legendary final girl, Amy Steel. The crowd cheered, yelled out more infamous lines from the movie.
The Emmaus Theatre staff did such an amazing job. They are always great. Horror 365 had a raffle with prizes, and they had a costume contest. All of the other Jason’s took the stage along with a Freddy Krueger (We Love Freddy).
Jason seemed to enjoy his birthday party. If you are in Emmaus, PA, stop in Superior, and visit The Emmaus Theatre.
