This October, the boogeyman returns in the first official trailer for ‘Halloween Ends’, the highly anticipated final installment in director David Gordon Green’s rebooted trilogy. A film that promises to be the final showdown between Michael Myers and Laurie Strode.
The short one-minute and sixteen-second trailer opens from Michael’s perspective as he enters a residence and climbs a set of stairs to find a waiting Laurie Strode.
The trailer then features quick snippets of the upcoming film.
The highlight comes in the closing moments of the trailer, as the scene is set for the inevitable showdown between Laurie and Michael.
During the altercation, Michael attempts to shove Laurie’s hand into a garbage disposal. This felt reminiscent of ‘Halloween H20’, where Charlie sticks his hand into a garbage disposal to retrieve a corkscrew that had fallen inside. This scene was, however, not capitalized on, as he was able to retrieve the item without the disposal being turned on, but in the new trailer for ‘Halloween Ends’, Michael looks to rectify this previously missed opportunity.
His attempts, however, prove to be in vain as, in the closing seconds of the trailer, Laurie is able to break free of his grasp and drive a knife through the killer’s hand.
Where last year’s ‘Halloween Kills’ picked up immediately where 2018’s ‘Halloween’ left off, the upcoming ‘Halloween Ends’ is set to take place four years after the events of ‘Halloween Kills’. The reveal of the time jump comes courtesy of ‘Halloween Ends’ director David Gordon Green, who shared this information in an interview with Collider back in October 2021.
The official synopsis for ‘Halloween Kills’ picks up four years after the events of ‘Halloween Kills’ Laurie Strode is living with her granddaughter Allyson and is finishing her memoir. Michael Myers hasn’t been seen since. Laurie, after allowing the specter of Michael to determine and drive her reality for decades, has decided to liberate herself from fear and rage and embrace life. But when a young man, Corey Cunningham, is accused of killing a boy he was babysitting, it ignites a cascade of violence and terror that will force Laurie to finally confront the evil she can’t control, once and for all.
This film will mark the final appearance of Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode, the role that launched her career.
Along with Curtis, Andi Matichak also reprises her role as Allyson from the two previous installments in the franchise, along with Will Patton as Officer Frank Hawkins, and James Jude Courtney as The Shape, better known to fans as Michael Myers.
‘Halloween Ends’ will also see the return once again of Kyle Richards as Lindsey Wallace, the role she recently reprised in last year’s “Halloween Kills’.
Nick Castle, the first actor to don the famous Michael Myers mask in the original 1978 ‘Halloween’, will also make his final cameo appearance as the infamous killer. Castle previously revealed he had the opportunity to see the first cut of ‘Halloween Ends’, which he described as “Surprising”, adding that “it’s absolutely something I don’t think you would have ever guessed, in terms of the way it’s going to unroll”.
Will have to wait and see how Green intends to complete his rebooted trilogy, as fans were left with questions regarding Michael’s supernatural ability to cheat death at the end of ‘Halloween Kills’. This supernatural element to the character was first introduced in ‘Halloween 6: The Curse of Michael Myers’.
‘Halloween Ends’ is scheduled to be released on October 14, 2022.
