With the days counting down until the release of Halloween Ends, the final trailer has officially been released for the film that promises to be the final showdown between Michael Myers and Laurie Strode.
The official synopsis for Halloween Ends picks up four years after the events of Halloween Kills. Laurie Strode is living with her granddaughter Allyson and is finishing her memoir. Michael Myers hasn’t been seen in the intervening four years. Laurie, after allowing the specter of Michael to determine and drive her reality for decades, has decided to liberate herself from fear and rage and embrace life. But when a young man, Corey Cunningham, is accused of killing a boy he was babysitting, it ignites a cascade of violence and terror that will force Laurie to finally confront the evil she can’t control once and for all.
The final trailer for Halloween Ends opens with Corey Campbell (Rohan Campbell) as he appears to be in search of Michael Myers, who, as we know, has been absent for the four years following the events of the previous film.
The problem with evil, though, is if you go looking for it, you usually end up finding it. We see Campbell coming face-to-face with Michael, who appears to be hiding in a storm drain.
The Halloween Ends trailer then cuts to Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) as she visits Lindsey Wallace (Kyle Richards), who appears to be working at the bar from the previous film. Laurie informs Wallace that she is certain that, after all this time, she is once again seeing Michael.
She is then confronted by Allyson, who confronts her grandmother with the fact she is unable to move on and is obsessed with death.
This part of the trailer comes as a surprise, as in 2018’s Halloween, Laurie was the one who warned everyone that Michael would be returning, but no one listened to her at the time. You would think that, if Laurie is once again sounding the bell that Michael is back, people would pay attention this time.
We’re then given the ominous message by Campbell that Michael is coming back. But the question remains: who is he speaking to?
Before you have a chance to digest the rest of the Halloween Ends trailer, Laurie reveals that she is convinced that, this time, Michael is more dangerous than he has ever been.
This is immediately followed by the scene of Michael pinning his victim to the wall with a knife, which is a nice call back to the original film where Michael first used this very same technique when he impaled Bob.
The climax of the Halloween Ends trailer comes when Laurie proclaims that she is going to finally be the one to kill Michael for good, even if the only way to kill him is by sacrificing her own life. Either way, it all comes to an end this Halloween.
Before the trailer ends, we are treated to one last shot of Michael doing what he does best: surviving. This begs the question: does Laurie have what it takes to put an end to his reign of terror once and for all? Or will evil be victorious this Halloween?
We’ll have to wait and see if one can actually kill the boogeyman.
Along with Curtis, Matichak, Richards, and Campbell, the film stars Will Patton as Officer Frank Hawkins and James Jude Courtney as The Shape, better known to fans as Michael Myers.
As previously reported, Nick Castle, the first actor to don the famous Michael Myers mask in the original 1978 Halloween, will also make his final cameo appearance as the infamous killer.
Halloween Ends will premiere on Peacock on Friday, October 14, the same day it opens in theatres.
