After spending just over two years in Early Access on Steam, the Epic Games Store, Xbox Series and the Xbox One, Systemic Reaction has announced that their dino shooter Second Extinction will finally exit Early Access on October 20th. To commemorate the announcement, the developers have released a new trailer that also hints at some of the new upcoming features for the first-person shooter.
Among the planned improvements for the 1.0 release, Second Extinction will include a new map and biome, complete with new narrative missions and activities. You’ll also be getting two new dinosaurs to go toe to claw with, including two new mutations to the existing roster of dinos. The 1.0 build will also feature refinements to a progression system that includes a raised level cap, as well as a revamped weapon upgrade system that allows players to upgrade their weapon power, unlock perks to change the weapon behaviour, as well as upgrade their support equipment.
In case you missed it the first time, Second Extinction involves you and your friends teaming up reclaim earth by wiping out the mutated dinosaurs that have taken over the planet. It’s not quite as simple as it sounds, as there are a lot of dinos, both on the ground and in the air, so teamwork is vital for you to succeed.
