Back in February, Steelkrill Studio revealed their unorthodox horror title Baby Blues Nightmares, where you play as a toddler on a tricycle through a surreal nightmare of a daycare. Players can now experience Baby Blues Nightmares as part of Steam Next Fest with the game’s first chapter.
In the game, you play as a toddler navigating through the corridors and dimly lit playrooms of your daycare in order to recover your five beloved toys, all while trying to unravel the mysteries that shroud the facility. You’ll need to fix, maintain and customize your tricycle to navigate the world. Said world will have you making use of your size to crawl through hidden passages, hide in tiny spaces, and use your imagination to outsmart the lurking horrors.
And seeing as you’re a toddler, you have a hunger mechanic that doubles as your happiness. To maintain your happiness, you must eat chocolates and food scattered about the world. Failure to do so will result in you becoming scared. The more scared you are, you more chance you have to cry, which can give up your position to enemies easily.
Luckily, you can keep track of your position by doing the one thing your parents told you not to do: draw on the walls with the pens you’ll find around the world.
And if you’re keen to see the devs play Baby Blues Nightmares themselves, you can tune in on June 12 at 9:00AM PT on the game’s Steam page to watch the devs take a crack at the Steam Next Fest demo.
