My little ghouls and goblins, it’s your favorite horror fanatic Sharon here with some spine-tingling updates from the one and only Blumhouse Productions! As you creepy creatures know, I live for all things horror – especially around the holidays when things get a little more sinister.
First up on the chopping block is the second trailer for the upcoming aquatic nightmare “Night Swim.” I’ll be taking the plunge into those murky waters to serve you my review once it hits theaters in January. But from this latest glimpse, consider me hooked. It seems “Night Swim” has all the elements of a classic creepy thriller – questionable characters, creepy kids, dangerous depths…I can already feel the claustrophobia seeping in. Lead actress Kerry Condon looks right at home portraying madness. Sign me up for this sinking ship!
Next on the blood-soaked slate is “Imaginary,” bringing demented imaginary friends to life. As a grown-up goth girl who still has tea parties with her stuffed animals, I feel this one creeping into the dark recesses of my mind already. The trailer gives little away, but I love a slow supernatural build-up, especially with the always freaky child’s doll trope. Consider me cautiously intrigued on this one, fiends.
No Blumhouse update would be complete without a nod to one of their holiday horror hits, “Pooka!“. This Christmas cracker stars none other than the infamous cookie killer himself. I’ll never forget the first time I witnessed that jolly, dancing nightmare come to life in all his twisted, mechanical glory. Here’s hoping the rumors of something special to celebrate the anniversary come true!
Either way, I highly recommend revisiting this creepy Christmas classic if you haven’t already. Just be wary of accepting cookies from strangers…
You can check out Pooka! now on Hulu.
And finally, the horror gaming gods grant our gory wishes with a physical release of Five Nights at Freddy’s on Blu-ray and 4K. I’ve spent many a sleepless night trying to survive that pizzeria of possessed animatronics.
Now fans can experience the terror in even more vivid detail right from their living rooms. I may just have to invite some friends over for a Five Nights viewing party – I can’t wait to see those furry freaks in 4K!
Of course, these announcements are just the bloody tip of the iceberg when it comes to what Blumhouse has in store for us. Stay tuned to my blog for more reviews, reactions, and commentary on all things horror – especially with regards to my favorites at Blumhouse. They really know how to deck my grimy halls with boughs of blood and gore.
What do you fiends think? Which of these spine-chilling selections speaks to your dark side? Let me know in the comments! And remember – just because Halloween has passed doesn’t mean you can’t still spread a little fear this holiday season. Choose peace and love…or else!
Mwah-hah-hah!
Your Morticia of Macabre,
Sharon
