It’s the Will Trent episode we’ve been waiting for.
Spoilers for Will Trent Season 3 Episode 4 tease that the GBI and APD work together to investigate a case of murder, corporate espionage, and mistaken identity.
It becomes tricky when a suspect believes she’s a CIA spy who is supposed to kill people with dangerous intel. The GBI has their work cut out for them.
It’s also the first time Will and Angie encounter each other, which will likely prove awkward and elicit an emotional confrontation. I’m excited about that since they need to clear the air.
This will be a drama-filled episode as the other spoilers hint that Amanda deals with her professional and personal life while helping Sunny fit in, and Michael struggles with his divorce. It should be another fun one.
A Sleeper Agent Preys on Lonely People
Is this a common theme, having someone prey on lonely people and order them to kill people with terrorist information?
Law and Order featured a similar storyline a few weeks ago when an overzealous FBI agent worked in the “Lure and Trap” program and encouraged a young man to kill his friend, who he believed was making terrorist attacks.
This time, Will Trent Season 3 Episode 4 suggests that multiple suspects are spies and working for someone else, leaving Will and Faith to discern who their handler is before there are more dead bodies.
Knowing how the series handles cases, this will likely be dealt with a dash of humor combined with the serious subject matter.
They must investigate where these suspects are found, what they have in common, and where they meet the handler to decide the next course of action.
Spy shows are all the rage, so this could be entertaining, and we can’t wait to see it.
Will and Angie Are Forced to Work Together, Prompting an Emotional Confrontation
From that weekly promo, it’s apparent that Will wasn’t expecting to see Angie at the crime scene, so it’s initially awkward.
Since they are professionals, they’ll likely put that aside for then and focus on the case, with Will working with Faith and Angie investigating with Michael.
We generally enjoy group investigations, so it will be interesting to see the dynamics, especially with how protective Michael has been of Angie lately.
However, some tension is bubbling and needs to be addressed, and we’re excited about it.
Whether you ship Will and Angie or not, Ramon Rodriguez and Erika Christensen. Both slay emotional material.
When I interviewed Ramon Rodriguez earlier this season, he shared that it was tough when he and Angie were forced to be in front of each other.
“It’s awkward. Are they going to talk about it? Eventually, they do. It isn’t easy because there’s so much history.”
“There will be some brutal conversations that must be had, which will be hard.”
Will and Angie both believe in their convictions and that they did the right thing. I don’t know if either will forgive the other yet.
Will and Marion Grow Closer
Marion gets involved in another case as the weekly promo and photos tease. It almost looks like she, Will, and Faith have a party at the office.
We can’t wait to discover what they watched and how it related to the case.
If we read that scene correctly, it’s interesting that Marion and Will’s relationship has progressed so much that she drops by the office.
Will needs someone less complicated and easier after his trauma-filled relationship with Angie. However, I’m unsure if he’d jump into another relationship that quickly after that heartbreak.
He and Marion will likely become close friends before jumping into anything else.
The Team Deals with Personal Issues
Will Trent is a procedural that excels when it features the characters’ personal lives and intersections with the cases.
The series hasn’t mentioned Michael’s divorce much this year, except for his concern about Gina winning custody of the children.
This could expand on his custody battle and how he’s coping as a single dad, or it could examine how the divorce affected his self-esteem.
Being a single dad made Michael a better person, but Gina’s leaving likely made him question his choices. This could help him in the future but also make him question everything.
Amanda also has to adjust to a new normal, too.
She’s never been a parent or had it interfere with her life, but she has to put Sunny’s needs first.
Watching Amanda balance her strict approach with compassion as she learns to handle a teenager will be refreshing.
We’re looking forward to it since Sunny likely has some PTSD from her attack, and hopefully, Amanda can help her cope with it since she has endured trauma as well.
