Ever since Prime Video announced the franchise would expand with The Terminal List: Dark Wolf, a prequel, fans have wondered whether it might be too much of a good thing.
Thankfully, the newly released trailer alleviates those concerns.
The official footage puts the incomparable Taylor Kitsch front and center as Ben Edwards, charting “his journey from the Navy SEALs to the clandestine side of CIA Special Operations,” according to the streamer’s description.
Rather than rehashing old ground, Dark Wolf leans into “the darker side of warfare and the human cost that comes with it.”
The Terminal List: Dark Wolf Reminds Me of SEAL Team
It’s a compelling hook that the trailer runs with — hard. Ben’s life unravels fast, and what we see is a darker, more intense evolution of the world that The Terminal List was built in.
My first impression? It looks like SEAL Team on steroids — grittier, more grounded, and even more brutal.
With SEAL Team now canceled and off the air for over a year, Dark Wolf could easily fill that void for viewers craving military drama with heart and high stakes.
And while Ben is the focus, the trailer confirms James Reece (Chris Pratt) is back in a big way.
With Pratt sharing top billing alongside Kitsch, the dynamic between these two characters is about to shift — and potentially redefine what we thought we knew about Reece’s past.
The Terminal List didn’t win over critics when it launched, but for many viewers, it was a popcorn-worthy thrill ride that wasn’t afraid to go full throttle.
Prime Video is Expanding Many Franchises
If the prequel can capture that same energy — while deepening the mythology — it’ll be a major win for Prime Video.
And it fits right in with the streamer’s strategy of expanding its biggest franchises. Just recently, Prime Video greenlit a Reacher spinoff centered on fan-favorite Neagley.
Add that to The Boys universe, which already includes Gen V, Diabolical, and more in the pipeline — and it’s clear: IP is king.
The Terminal List: Dark Wolf premieres Wednesday, August 27, with its seven-episode season running through September 24.
