The actor and model joined the platform in June after her 18-year-old daughter, Sami Sheen, was publicly criticized by her father Charlie Sheen for doing so as well.
Now, Denise is explaining why she followed in her daughter’s footsteps.
During a recent interview on Sirius XM’s Jeff Lewis Live, Denise explained that she joined OnlyFans to deflect some of the heat Sami was receiving from her own decision.
“The reason why I wanted to join was because she got so much backlash for that, that I didn’t think it was really fair,” she explained.
“I’ve done things in my career, I’ve done Playboy and obviously Wild Things, and I’ve done sexy shoots before promoting movies and stuff like that.”
“Sometimes people say negative things — well, a lot of times they do and a lot of times they don’t — and I thought this is not fair that she would be getting this much backlash when a lot of people post stuff like that even just on Instagram. Not to take it as far as you can take it on OnlyFans, obviously, but still.”
Denise added that she thought it was “not really fair” for Sami to receive so much “backlash,” and that her daughter talked with her before joining the platform.
Back in June, Denise also posted a statement on her Instagram about her daughter’s decision after Charlie had expressed his disapproval.
“I have to say, I wish I had the confidence my 18 [year] old daughter has,” she wrote, adding later in her statement, “Is there really a difference posting a picture of ourself in a bikini on IG? We’ve all done it.”
“Perhaps I should open my own account…” she concluded.
