There’s nothing holding them back. Shawn Mendes and ex-girlfriend Camila Cabello were caught getting cozy once again after their Coachella reunion raised eyebrows.
The Canadian singer, 24, and Cabello, 26, were spotted together outside of a comedy club in West Hollywood on Wednesday, May 3. In photos obtained by Us Weekly, Mendes greeted his former flame, who wore a white long-sleeve shirt under a black dress, with a warm embrace.
The twosome got flirty on the sidewalk before heading to the Sunset Tower Hotel, holding each other tightly in a hug. Mendes paired a white turtleneck with khaki-colored trousers and black boots. One snap showed Cabello beaming lovingly at the “Mercy” crooner as they seemingly waited for a car at a valet stand.
Mendes and the former Fifth Harmony singer began dating in July 2019 after years of friendship. The duo, who collaborated multiple times throughout their relationship, announced their split in November 2021.
“Hey guys, we’ve decided to end our romantic relationship but our love for one another as humans is stronger than ever,” they wrote in a joint Instagram statement. “We started our relationship as best friends and will continue to be best friends. We so appreciate your support from the beginning and moving forward.”
At the time, a source exclusively told Us that the “Stitches” artist and Cabello had “a ton of love and respect for each other” despite their breakup. “It does hurt, but they’re both certain this is for the best. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have done it,” the insider added.
Cabello later moved on with Lox Club founder Austin Kevitch, but the pair reportedly called it quits earlier this year. The Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile star, for his part, has been linked to chiropractor Dr. Jocelyne Miranda and pop star Sabrina Carpenter.
More than one year after their split, Mendes and the “Havana” performer sparked reconciliation rumors when they were spotted attending the annual Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, California, together on April 14. The pair “stayed together all night” on the festival grounds and weren’t shy with their PDA while watching Burna Boy.
“Camila was nuzzling her face into Shawn’s shoulders and they looked like a couple,” an eyewitness exclusively told Us, adding that the former couple were “making out” and “trying to stay out of sight” at their VIP table.
One day later, Mendes and Cabello brushed off questions about their relationship status while walking around the festival. A source later filled Us in on where the exes stand.
“Shawn and Camila are not back together,” the insider exclusively revealed last month. “They had an amazing relationship and will always have a mutual respect for each other.”
The Coachella kiss was “no big deal” for the duo, who still have a “very special” bond post-split. “They realized that even though they’re not suited for each other in a romantic sense, they have a strong chemistry and will always remain close friends,” the source told Us.
