Kelly Clarkson has a very pointed message for her ex-husband!
During The Kelly Clarkson Show on Thursday, the 40-year-old singer took to the stage to perform a cover of Gayle’s hit track abcdefu. But instead of singing the songstress’ original lyrics, “f**k you and your mom and your sister and your job and your broke-ass car and that s**t you call art,” Kelly made some not-so-subtle changes to the words and threw some shade at her former partner, Brandon Blackstock, and his father, Narvel Blackstock! She sang during the daytime talk show:
“Forget you and your dad and the fact that you got half and my broken heart, turn that s**t into art.”

LOVE IT!
Of course, fans will not be shocked that the American Idol winner twisted these lyrics to reflect on her personal struggles from the past couple of years. As you know, Kelly broke up with the 46-year-old and filed for divorce in 2020, citing the old catch-all “irreconcilable differences.” Their soon breakup took a nasty turn as they battled it out in court over their settlement and the custody of their 8-year-old daughter River and 6-year-old son Remington.
However, the former couple eventually settled in 2022 with Brandon getting a one-time payment of $1.3 million. He also will receive $45,600 a month for child support and $115,000 spousal support per month until January 2024. Meanwhile, Kelly was granted primary custody of their two kids and got to keep their Montana properties, family pets, multiple cars, a flight simulator, and a few more items.
Crazy, right?! It’s no wonder she called out the fact that Brandon “got half.” But why did she bring up her former father-in-law? Besides the divorce battle, Kelly also sued Brandon, his dad Narvel, and their management company Starstruck Management Group for allegedly defrauding her out of millions. She accused them of “demanding unconscionable fees and compensation” while acting against her “best interests” and not having a legit license. Oof.
No one can blame Kelly for venting out her frustrations surrounding her divorce and lawsuit through song! All of that has been so messy! And this lyric shakeup definitely won’t be the last time fans will hear about what’s gone down with her breakup. As Kelly said, she turned that “s**t into art” and recently announced she’s dropping her new album Chemistry soon. No official release date was revealed — but we cannot wait for the divorce album!
