Adidas Originals completely put on the full show, celebrating Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards. It definitely gave forth a million words from cyberspace. Adidas had erected a tribute for the up-and-coming NBA superstar with the words “One of one, on and off the court” over a video of Edwards speaking of his confidence and charisma, while basketball fans across the globe chimed in with something instead funny, heartfelt, bizarre, and chaotic.

The clip gives an insight into the mind of Edwards, whose trademark expressions and mannerisms have built him into “Ant Man”: a little swagger with a sense of humor. Edwards shares, “I just always had confidence. My whole life. Even when I wasn’t the best player on my basketball team, I still had the confidence that I was the best player.” This swagger is now evident in his on-court play and his roster of growing endorsement deals.
Basically, the comment section was a wild mixture of birthday wishes and jokes. One bold comment claimed that Edwards would carry the Timberwolves past the Thunder next year. Another said to see Edward “in bed at 10:45 pm tonight,” with accompanying tongue emoji. The author glided on urging mutual followers to ignore the comment before spiraling into mini-drama—a classic social media mess.
Some fans linked the August 5 scheme, flushing Edwards as a Leo. “Ant-Man being a LEO makes sooooo much sense now,” read one comment. Most took the opportunity to proclaim him the GOAT or their favorite player. Such affection prompted another fan, after being roasted for naming Edwards “daddy,” to clarify they were “delulu in peace.”
The funniest response came right after Edwards cracked the comment about people not believing him: “Yeah this me,” Edwards said, followed by an “all right” shrug. That back and-forth exchange between Edwards and another commentator had many in the comment section rolling on the floor, with one user commenting, “no everyone going believe him when he says aight.”
Birthday wishes were also flying about, with the wiry fan claiming it was his second year in a row that he had asked Edwards for a birthday shoutout on this very day. Another wished him happy birthday with utter confidence that Edwards would be scoring 30 points a game this season. That vibe is obviously contagious.
What separates Edwards from the others is not gassy dunks or working hard on that dirty three, but that charisma he mentions in the Adidas clip: “I think the difference between somebody who’s just really good and the icon is probably their charisma,” Edwards says. “Being able to walk in the room and impact the whole room.” Including those responses, he’s already an icon. Either joking about sneaking into his bed or really debating his place among the basketball greats, Edwards is rare in that he commands attention all by himself.
At just 22 years of age, Edwards is fast approaching a season that is so crucial for the Timberwolves. If anything, though, this confidence and excitement gives reason that the Ant Man era is just getting started. The birthday love from Adidas shows that his star power transcends Minnesota. And if the comments are anything to go by, the internet will be happily chaotic for this entire ride: full of emojis.

In a recent heartfelt message, Edwards even celebrated a nonprofit feature on a NASCAR car, showcasing his impact beyond basketball, which can be read about here.
