Tierra Whack has announced her long-awaited new album. World Wide Whack, billed as the Philadelphia rapper’s “debut album,” following 2018’s Whack World, arrives March 15 via Interscope. Check out the album artwork below, created by conceptual artist Alex Da Corte (who directed the music video for Whack’s 2020 single “Dora”).
World Wide Whack’s cover art represents “the first reveal of the World Wide Whack character, an alter ego both untouchable and vulnerable, superhuman and painfully human, whose surprising story will unfold in images and video over the course of the album’s visual rollout,” according to a press release. The character is also inspired by 17th-century Italian clown Pierrot, fashion designer Elsa Schiaparelli, and Donna Summer, per the same release.
Back in 2021, Whack released a trilogy of EPs—Rap?, Pop?, and R&B?—plus songs including “Walk the Beat,” “76,” “8,” and “Link.” Last year, she released the single “Chanel Pit” and starred in Cypher, a feature film released on Hulu that centered on her life by way of a blend of fiction and documentary.
