Skeet Ulrich joins Kyle Meredith to talk about his role in AMC’s Parish, the new Giancarlo Esposito-starring series. Listen to the new episode above, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Parish follows a family man in New Orleans (Esposito) in the aftermath of his son’s violent killing and the collapse of his business. After reconnecting with an old friend from his days as a wheelman (Ulrich), he finds himself on a high-stakes collision course with a crime syndicate. Ulrich explores the psyche of his character, a man who has a knack for bringing as much trouble to the table as he does fun, as well as the loyalty his character feels towards Esposito’s.
Going behind the scenes, Ulrich discusses how working with the Breaking Bad and Do the Right Thing actor brought out the best in him. “You couldn’t help but be amazed by his every-man quality on stage, which is now in Parish,” says Ulrich. “He’s an incredibly intimate scene partner, I mean that in the sense that there was just an energy between us — there was so much fun.”
Looking beyond Parish, Ulrich also takes a minute to revisit his famous role as the murderous Billy in the original Scream, giving his thoughts on the chances of Billy making a return to the franchise.
