Try not to cry as Celine Dion vows to fight through her battle with stiff-person syndrome in the official trailer for her upcoming documentary, I Am: Celine Dion.
During a particularly vulnerable moment in the clip, Dion nearly breaks down while opening up about her struggles to continue performing. “I’m working hard every day. But I have to admit, it’s been a struggle,” she says. “I miss it so much. The people, I miss them. If I can’t run, I’ll walk. If I can’t walk, I’ll crawl. I won’t stop.”
Per the official logline, I Am: Celine Dion “gives us a raw and honest behind-the-scenes look at the iconic superstar’s struggle with a life-altering illness. Serving as a love letter to her fans, this inspirational documentary highlights the music that has guided her life while also showcasing the resilience of the human spirit.”
I Am: Celine Dion was directed by Irene Taylor and premieres June 25th on Prime Video.
Back in December 2022, Dion revealed she was diagnosed with stiff-person syndrome (SPS), a rare and incurable neurological condition that causes muscles to stiffen progressively in the torso, arms, and legs. She subsequently canceled her “Courage World Tour” to focus on recovery.
This past February, however, Dion made a surprise public appearance at the Grammys to present Taylor Swift with the trophy for Album of the Year.
