The 2025 Oscar nominations will be revealed Thursday, January 23rd beginning at at 8:30 a.m. ET/5:30 a.m. PT. This article will be updated as nominees are announced.

This year’s awards show are set to recognize an incredible range of movies, with no clear frontrunner in sight as we wait to find out who the nominees for the 97th Academy Awards will be.

There are a few films which seem like they have a good shot at multiple nominations, such as the Pope-picking drama Conclave, Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown, and Jesse Eisenberg’s intimate character study A Real Pain. But there are also a ton of wild cards also in the mix.

Sure, The Brutalist and Emilia Pérez were big winners at this year’s Golden Globes… But that might mean absolutely nothing, in the grand scheme of things. Wicked was a massive box office winner and a likely lock for a Best Picture nomination — but will director Jon M. Chu also be recognized, not to mention stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande? Demi Moore’s riding a powerful career resurgence at the moment thanks to her acclaimed work in The Substance — but who knows if the film will be recognized in any categories beyond Lead Actress.

Meanwhile, Consequence Composers of the Year Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross might wake up to two nominations on Thursday morning, as both their score and song for Luca Guadagnino’s Challengers are on the shortlist for Oscars consideration. They’ll potentially be up against the soundtracks for Emilia Perez, The Wild Robot, and Wicked — though only the score from Wicked, as its songs are not eligible for consideration.

The 2025 Academy Awards are set to take place on Sunday, March 2nd, 2025 at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. Conan O’Brien will host the show.
