Philly band Mannequin Pussy have announced their new album, I Got Heaven, out March 1st via Epitaph Records. As a preview, they’ve shared the latest single, “I Don’t Know You.”
The group took a different approach to recording the project, convening in Los Angeles to collaborate with indie rock producer extraordinaire John Congleton rather than writing at home. “There was so much going on in our lives that it was the perfect opportunity to recalibrate who we were as people and musicians,” said bassist Colins “Bear” Regisford in a statement.
“When I’ve written songs, it’s usually a very solitary process,” added vocalist/guitarist Marisa Dabice. “So this was shedding a lot of those hermit-like qualities to do something intensively collaborative. Your best work comes when you allow other people into it.”
Pre-orders for I Got Heaven are ongoing. See the artwork and full tracklist below.
“I Don’t Know You” is a light and airy track featuring lovelorn lyrics accompanied by Maxine Steen’s swirling synths and brushed percussion from Kaleen Reading. “There are 3 little words,” sings Dabice. “That I wish I had said/ But I wouldn’t tell you.” Watch the music video, directed by Mason Mercer and Anthony Miralle, below.
Mannequin Pussy previously shared the title track for I Got Heaven in late August. Their last full-length was 2019’s Patience, which was followed by their 2021 EP Perfect.
