A new LCD Soundsystem song will be included in Noah Baumbach’s upcoming Netflix film White Noise, Variety reports and a representative for the band confirmed to Pitchfork. Titled “New Body Rhumba,” the track marks the first new original recording from the band since the 2017 comeback album American Dream. “New Body Rhumba” will get officially released as a single later in 2022.
White Noise, Noah Baumbach’s upcoming adaptation of the 1985 Don DeLillo novel of the same name, stars Adam Driver, Greta Gerwig, Don Cheadle, and Jodie Turner-Smith and also includes André 3000 as a cast member. It will premiere at the Venice Film Festival and arrive on Netflix “soon,” according to a press release.
American Dream is the fourth studio album from LCD Soundsystem, and it followed their climactic breakup in 2011. James Murphy and co. had initially said farewell with a performance in New York, which was later documented on the 5xLP boxset, The Long Goodbye: LCD Soundsystem Live at Madison Square Garden.
LCD Soundsystem played a number of shows in Brooklyn last year. And, earlier in 2022, the band had additional residencies in Boston, Philadelphia, Oakland, and San Francisco. Back in March, Murphy shared an update about the band and indicated that new music could be on the way.
