Justin Timberlake briefly addressed his DWI arrest during his concert in Chicago on Friday night, saying that he had experienced a “tough week.”
“We’ve been together through ups and downs, lefts and rights,” Timberlake remarked. “It’s been a tough week, but you’re here and I’m here, and nothing can change this moment right now.”
Appearing to fight back tears, Timberlake added, “I know sometimes I’m hard to love, but you keep on loving me and I love you right back.”
The 43-year-old singer was arrested and charged with a DWI after being pulled over while driving in Sag Harbor, Long Island early Tuesday morning. According to a police report, Timberlake was observed blowing past a stop sign and swerving. He performed a field sobriety test, but refused to take a breathalyzer. Timberlake allegedly told the arresting officer that he only “had one martini.”
