He is becoming increasingly overwhelmed by the realization that Vince will soon be leaving his position as battalion chief, with Vince’s son Bode set to take over. Additionally, Jake is not happy about Vince allowing Gabriela’s boyfriend, Finn, to ride along with them without informing him first.

Later, he has a deep conversation with Audrey, who shares her plans of improving her skills and moving to the next station for growth. Jake also tries to interrupt a heated argument between Bode and Sharon, but Sharon asks him to stay out of it. However, Jake asks her to take their matter to the house while Sharon reminds him that she is his division chief.
