Fans have begun to think that Natasha Lyonne’s Byrdie will appear in The Fantastic Four: First Steps due to her key role in MCU’s animated series, What If…? She is the hybrid daughter of Darcy Lewis (voiced by Kat Dennings) and Howard the Duck (voiced by Seth Green). With Lyonne confirmed to join the Pedro Pascal-led movie, many think that she would reprise her current role in live-action form. But, how true these speculations are? Here are the details.
Will Natasha Lyonne play a live-action Byrdie in The Fantastic Four: First Steps?
Lyonne has been added to The Fantastic Four: First Steps cast. However, it remains unclear if she would portray Byrdie or another character.
Natasha Lyonne is an award-winning actress, popularly known for her roles in Netflix’s Orange Is the New Black, Russian Doll, and Peacock’s Poker Face. Earlier this year, Marvel Studios confirmed that she would be appearing in the upcoming Fantastic Four movie in an undisclosed role. At the time, many also theorized that she might portray Alicia Masters, the blind sculptor.
However, with her latest introduction in What if…? Season 3 Episode 7, many think Marvel might have already disclosed her live-action role subtly. In the series, she teams up with the Guardians of Multiverse led by Captain Carter (voiced by Hayley Atwell) to rescue the Watcher, who faces troubles for his multiple interventions in universes.
Though Byrdie has a human appearance, she boasts impressive abilities including Cosmic Energy Manipulation and flight mode. Given that Byrdie and Lyonne share quite a resemblance, such as red hair, there are chances of her reprising the What If…? character.
In a past interview with Entertainment Tonight, Lyonne addressed her potential role in the MCU, revealing that she has now wrapped up filming for the upcoming outing. However, she played coy in disclosing details of her role. “I’m old enough to know that the whole thing is a gift and gravy and rare and [I’m] taking it in stride. I’ve already finished Fantastic Four, and I’m in the middle of Poker Face,” she said.
While the speculations are rife, fans would have to wait until Marvel officially confirms Lyonne’s character.
