Ahead of the official Netflix release date for Sonic Prime Season 2 on July 13, 2023, the company has released Sonic Prime Season 2 Episode 1 in its entirety, giving fans the chance to check out the new season early.
The first episode of the new season was shared on the official Netflix After School account, and opens with Shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic exploring the void of the Shatterverse.

What is Sonic Prime about?
“The action-packed adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog go into overdrive when a run-in with Dr. Eggman results in a literal universe-shattering event,” reads the logline. “Desperate to piece his prime reality back together and save his old friends, Sonic races through the Shatterverse, discovering strange worlds and enlisting new friends in an epic adventure of a lifetime!”
Sonic Prime features the voices of Deven Mack, Ashleigh Ball, Shannon Chan-Kent, Brian Drummond, Vincent Tong, Ian Hanlin, Kazumi Evans, and Adam Nurada. It is executive produced by Man of Action Entertainment, the creative team behind Ben 10 and Big Hero 6.
The series is being animated at WildBrain. Additional executive producers include Erik Wiese, Josh Scherba, Anne Loi, Stephanie Betts, Logan McPherson, Haruki Satomi Yukio Sugino, Shuji Utsumi, and Toru Nakahara.
Sonic the Hedgehog debuted in 1991 on the SEGA Genesis. The hit game series was also adapted into two live-action movies starring Ben Schwartz and James Marsden. The film franchise has a combined worldwide gross of over $700 million. The third installment is now in-development, along with a Knuckles spin-off series for Paramount+.
