As ABC’s The Good Doctor gears up for its imminent end, the cast of the hit medical drama shares behind-the-scenes images from the series finale as they all prepare to say goodbye to San Jose St. Bonaventure Hospital.
The images shared on social media (via TVLine) take fans behind the scenes of the beloved ABC series. Dr. Audrey Lim actress Christina Chang recently shared a photo of her from her first day on set during the first season.
“On the eve of our final day of filming, flooded with so many memories. Thankful for The Good Cast + The Good Crew + The Good Fans,” the actress wrote.
The outlet also shared BTS photos courtesy of series stars Chang, Paige Spara (Lea Dilallo) and Fiona Gubelmann (Dr. Morgan Reznick). You can check out the images down below:
Why is The Good Doctor ending with Season 7?
Despite its impressive viewership performance throughout the past seasons, the seventh season — which premiered on February 20 — will be the show’s last, as the creatives behind the hit series believe it’s the right time to end the story.
In a previous interview with Collider, series creator David Shore said that they have been “lucky enough to plan the ending [they] want to do,” adding, “This has been a weird year. Only doing 10 episodes is unfortunate. But being able to go out on your own terms is a blessing.”
Shore continued, “Years ago when I was doing another show, someone asked, ‘Do you know how the show is going to end?’ [He said] Yes, I know exactly how this show will end. One day I will get a call from the network.”
The synopsis for The Good Doctor reads: “Shaun Murphy (Freddie Highmore), a young surgeon with autism and savant syndrome, relocates from a quiet country life to join a prestigious hospital’s surgical unit. Alone in the world and unable to personally connect with those around him, Shaun uses his extraordinary medical gifts to save lives and challenge the skepticism of his colleagues.”
The Good Doctor airs new episodes Tuesdays on ABC and will stream the next day on Hulu.
