Bandai Namco announced that One Piece Odyssey is coming to Nintendo Switch worldwide on July 26. More than a simple port, it included the game’s existing DLC plus new Switch-exclusive items.
One Piece Odyssey Comes to Switch July 26
Bandai Namco considers the Switch version of One Piece Odyssey a Deluxe Edition. As such, it includes the game’s Reunion of Memories DLC scenario, plus the Traveling Outfits bonus costumes for the Straw Hat Crew and Sniper King. The Switch release also gives players access to the exclusive City of Water Outfits.
One Piece Odyssey features an original story, new characters, and monsters by the manga’s creator, Eiichiro Oda. The turn-based RPG sees Luffy’s crew blown off course by a storm and stranded on the island of Waford. An encounter with a mysterious woman named Lim sees the Straw hats deprived of their powers, and they must embark on a quest to get them back. In the process, they will explore a magical world of Memoria constructed from their own memories.
The Reunion of Memories DLC sees the Straw Hat Pirates trapped on Memoria once again. Players will encounter memories of Once Piece characters, including Mihawk, Perona, Eneru, and Whitebeard, who may help or hinder the crew. It also introduces new gameplay systems like Limited Order Battles. These are challenging encounters with difficult opponents that require tactical thinking to overcome. It also features a branching narrative where players make decisions through a mechanic called Captain’s Selections.
The base game retails for $59.99 on other platforms, while Reunion of Memories is part of the $24.99 Adventure Expansion Pack. However, it’s unclear how Bandai Namco intends to price the Switch version of One Piece Odyssey.
