Wednesday’s Emma Myers has joined the cast of the live-action Minecraft movie.
Per Deadline, Myers has been cast in an undisclosed role in Warner Bros. Pictures’ upcoming Minecraft movie, which is currently scheduled to release in April 2025.
Plot details for the live-action Minecraft movie currently remain under wraps. Along with Myers, the film also stars Jason Momoa, Danielle Brooks, and Sebastian Eugene Hansen. Nacho Libre and Napoleon Dynamite’s Jared Hess is directing the movie.
A Minecraft movie has been in development for several years at Warner Bros. Free Guy and Deadpool 3’s Shawn Levy was once attached to direct with a script written by Kieran Mulroney and Michele Mulroney; however, the three of them left the project in December 2014.
It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’s Rob McElhenney was brought in to replace Levy in 2015, though he also left the film a few years later. Peter Sollett then came and left the project before Hess was officially brought on in April 2022.
While it was previously expected to begin filming this summer, production on the Minecraft movie was delayed because of the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) strike. With the strike now over, the movie is looking to begin in New Zealand by the end of this month.
What else has Emma Myers starred in?
Myers is best known for playing Enid Sinclair in Netflix’s Wednesday series. Prior to that, she starred in a handful of short films and television movies, including 2021’s Girl in the Basement.
Myers recently played a major role in Netflix’s Family Switch alongside Jennifer Garner and Ed Helms. She recently told ComingSoon in an exclusive interview regarding her dance scene in Family Switch, “I used to be a dancer, so I love dancing, but starting a flash mob is something I’ve never done before, so it was a bit daunting.”
The live-action Minecraft movie is scheduled to hit theaters on April 4, 2025, from Warner Bros. Pictures.
