On his private social media account, Oscar nominee Paul Mescal confirmed that production on Ridley Scott’s highly-anticipated Gladiator 2 has finally been completed. This comes after filming was temporarily delayed last year due to the SAG-AFTRA strike. The long-awaited is currently scheduled to make its debut in theaters on November 22, 2024.
Who’s involved in Gladiator 2?
Gladiator 2 is directed by Scott from a screenplay written by David Scarpa. Leading the film is Mescal as Lucius, the son of Lucilla and Emperor Commodus’ nephew. The character was originally portrayed by Spencer Treat Clark in the first installment. The sequel will also feature Denzel Washington, Pedro Pascal, Joseph Quinn, Fred Hechinger, May Calamawy, Lior Raz, and more. They will be joined by returning cast members Connie Nielsen as Lucilla and Derek Jacobi as Gracchus.
The sequel is produced by Scott, Michael Pruss, Douglas Wick, and Lucy Fisher. The film is considered to be a joint-venture production between Paramount, Universal Pictures, Scott Free Productions, and Parkes/MacDonald Productions.
