Blumhouse’s Five Nights at Freddy’s movie has moved into the Top 20 best-performing movies of 2023 as it passes a significant milestone at the box office.

The video game adaptation, which had a budget of just $20 million and was released day and date on streaming service Peacock, passed the $250 million worldwide mark over the weekend.
It’s now the 18th best-performing movie of the year, just ahead of Sound of Freedom and Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, and a little behind The Flash and fellow horror hit The Nun II.
Domestically, Five Nights at Freddy’s had a quieter week, raking in just under $10 million. Still, it was enough to take the second spot behind The Marvels, which had a relatively underwhelming opening weekend.
The film, based on the highly popular Scott Cawthon video game series, follows a troubled security guard as he begins working at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. While spending his first night on the job, he realizes the night shift at Freddy’s won’t be easy to make it through
Five Nights at Freddy’s stars Josh Hutcherson, Elizabeth Lail, Matthew Lillard, Piper Rubio, Kat Conner Sterling, Mary Stuart Masterson, Lucas Grant, and Jessica Blackmore. The screenplay comes from Tammi, Seth Cuddeback, and Scott Cawthon, the latter of whom created the Five Nights at Freddy’s franchise. Cawthon and Jason Blum both serve as producers.
