Xbox announced a new Microsoft Flight Simulator, but it’s not leaving behind the one that released in 2020. The acclaimed sim is getting a new expansion that’s centered around the Dune films.
The Microsoft Flight Simulator Dune DLC is coinciding with the film
The House Atreides Ornithopter is coming to the title on November 3, the same day that Dune: Part Two makes its way to theaters. Xbox calls it “one of the most dynamic aircraft ever conceived” and noted that every system and control in the cockpit has been accurately recreated and all of the the unique aspects of the model have been captured. The trailer shows some of the fictional vehicle in action and how players will be able to fly above the sandy dunes of Arrakis. This crossover DLC will even be free for both PC and Xbox Series X|S users.
This isn’t the first time Microsoft Flight Simulator has been invaded by other franchises. Halo’s UNSC Pelican was added to the game during the 2022 showcase. It even received some Top Gun: Maverick crossover DLC in May 2022 to coincide with its theatrical release that came with a related livery for the F/A-18E Super Hornet and a few missions and challenges meant to evoke the aerial acrobatics from the film.
